Spring and summer bring with them more than sunshine and swimsuits; they also bring weddings, bridal showers, and the need for the perfect gift. While some of us have run the gamut of weddings and showers, not everyone knows how to choose appropriate gifts for these occasions. Follow these guidelines for choosing bridal shower gifts and wedding gifts:
Bridal Shower Gifts: Bridal showers are traditionally thrown to prepare the bride for her new home and the life she is about to embark on. Traditional bridal shower gifts include kitchen and bath towels, bedding, cookware and stemware, and home decor. For the bride who already owns a home/is settled down, consider of-the-month gifts like a monthly coffee club or go the girly route with a pair of stylish oven mitts or a personalized cosmetics case.
Wedding Gifts: A wedding gift is meant to celebrate both the bride and groom and the new life they will live together. Many people choose to give the bride and groom money or gift cards to be used for the honeymoon or a down payment on a new house. If you’re not comfortable giving cash or have a tight budget, check for gifts left on the bridal registry and choose something from that – just be sure not to pick anything too girly so the groom doesn’t feel left out.
